Published work.

Call it the media century. We are literally over-run by them. Even those outside of marketing, advertising or television, must face up to the challenges of newer media forms and delivery systems. If you've ever read news on the screen of a cell phone, you'll know what I am talking about.

Webisodes and viral marketing bypass the mainstream media outlets, as do bloggers and activists. As media  formats get reconfigured for (and by) the audiences, every form of communication must adapt, or re-invent itself -continuously. It's an exciting time for communication, PR and advertising. Think TiVo and Video Podcasts, RSS and juke-box cell phones. Facebook and Wikis.

What's all this? For a quick take on the latest trends in social media and marketing, see my blog, HoipolloiReport.

AMATEURS INVADE THE MEDIA
Critics of social media think the world's going to hell in a hand basket because of the rise of user-generated media, citizen journalism and digital media. Why are they so upset?
THE NEW PR
New media tactics such as viral marketing, text messaging and message boards have changed the game of the PR.
MEDIA: NOT A LECTURE BUT CONVERSATION
I have seen people shudder at the thought that the 'news' in a company newsletter could actually be provided by readers....
GUT WRENCHING JOURNALISM
In pursuit of the story, the media sometimes make a Faustian bargain with their subjects...
CENSORSHIP AND FIREWALLS ARE A JOKE
In the digital economy, governments that attempt to play the role of gatekeeper will find themselves unable to cope.
TRUTH BE DAMNED
The witch-hunt against rogue journalists conceals deeper issues of instant gratification and marketing.
